What to Expect When You Hire Whitney Beth Photography | Utah Family + Senior Photographer
I like to tell potential clients that I do things a little differently than a lot of family and senior photographers in Utah. The main thing being, that my packages are made of prints and products.
The hardest part for me with getting my own family pictures is printing them! After 5 years in business here in Utah, I realized that many (if not all) of my clients fell into that same category. I wanted to change that.
For starters, before anything is official, I like to have a pre-consultation. Either in person or over the phone. I find that it is so much easier and faster to talk than email back and forth. Plus, I want to get to know you and vice versa! I understand that I’m not the perfect fit of a photographer for everyone, and that’s ok! Wouldn’t it be better to find that out now, before we take a single picture than after? This also gives us a chance to go over products, and answer questions. If you’re feeling like we’d work well together we can even start planning and designing your session. This is also when we sign the contract and you pay the session fee of $200. My session fee covers my cost of time in editing, shooting, driving, basically all the backend things that you don’t see.
We have the day of the shoot, everyone shows up and I most likely make the weirdest noises and tell the lamest jokes – all for the sake of the shot. I don’t put a time limit on our session, but they average about an hour. I’m very efficient with my shooting and make sure we get everything we need.
Ordering and Viewing Appointment
About 1-2 weeks later (depending on how our schedules line up) I will have all your photos edited and ready to view! Typically I meet up at my clients homes and bring my ipad to stream your photos in a slideshow I’ve created. (If you’d rather meet up somewhere else, totally fine! We can do that too!) I like to make it a fun experience, and kids love seeing themselves big on the TV! After the slideshow is done we’ll use my software to rate your photos into categories of, “yes,” “no,” and “maybe” – just so it’s not overwhelming to look at them all. From there we can figure out which package is going to be the best fit for you! All of my packages are structured in a “create your own” type of style with an A La Carte option to add things on. My packages start at $220 and go up from there. I can help design gallery walls or show you mock ups of what a certain photo or size will look like.
Just like Christmas morning! When your prints and order is in I wrap it all up and deliver it! Not only do you get the luxury of having all the printing taken care of, but all of my products are archival and built to last! How cool is that to think that grandkids could be flipping through your album of family pictures?!
Do I get the digitals?
– You’ll receive a complimentary digital copy of whatever you get printed. In the case of my albums and folio boxes, you’ll get digitals of ever picture that went into making them.
Does the session fee include anything?
– It does not. In order to serve my clients this way I need to meet a minimum of what I’m bringing into the business.
What does the average person spend?
– The average client spends around $500 at the ordering appointment, so add in the session fee and you’re looking at around $700 .
Do you only do families?
– I actually specialize in families and graduating seniors! I also take on a limited number of commercial and brand work on the side. I don’t do weddings. They are too much of a time commitment with my young family to manage, plus they don’t bring me as much joy as everything else I photograph does.
