Spanish Fork Family Pictures | Robbins | Whitney Beth Photography
This session is what dreams are made of. Bill + Mindi are my brother and sister in law – I have been photographing them the last few years, but this shoot has to be my favorite. There was talk in the beginning of planning this shoot of possibly doing the salt flats or saltaire, but timing and scheduling ended up nixing that. And I am SO happy it did. During the shoot, Mindi kept saying, “I don’t know why I’ve never done a shoot here!” and “This is my favorite place on earth.” You see, this is Mindi’s grandma’s house. (Or Grandma Chicken, as she was nicknamed – due to the actual chickens.) Her house sits on a quiet farm in Benjamin with fields of alfalfa and corn as far as you can see. Mindi spent so much time there as a little girl, playing with cousins, and now her kids do the same thing. With how wide open it is out there, we had to shoot fast so we didn’t lose our light. But man, talk about magical. The golden light and vibrant colors were everything. (And 100% worth getting eaten alive from mosquitoes iykyk) Towards the end of the shoot, we made sure to get some pictures in front of the barn. As we were wrapping up (I’m pretty sure I had already said we were done.) The kids started playing in the irrigation ditch – Mindi told me that that paved irrigation ditch was her Grandpa’s dream. Without thinking, I pulled my camera up to my face and started documenting the kids playing in the ditch, the same way their mom did at their age. Sessions like this, that are so full of history, are my absolute favorite and I am honored I was able to photograph the Robbins family in such a special place.
