It’s Ok if You Don’t Book Me for Family Pictures – A Letter to My Friends | Whitney Beth Photography
With family picture season coming to a close and a message I got earlier this year, this has been on my mind. To all my friends, it’s ok if you don’t book me for family pictures.
I promise I don’t mind. There are a ton of reasons why you don’t book with me. Maybe you already have a photographer that you love and have been going to. If that’s the case, keep going to them! Loyal clients make us photographers so happy. We know you already and your kids are comfortable with us. That in itself is enough to keep going back to them forever. I don’t want to snake someone else’s clients if you truly love your photographer.
Another reason you might not hire me, is you don’t like my style or the way I edit. Totally valid, and totally fine! I want you to be able to love your photos, and if you prefer a different edit with different poses and directions, no problem! In fact, I have a ton of friends that I love who shoot differently than I do that I would be happy to refer you to if you need a photographer. We all have different tastes and styles and I’m not offended if mine is not your cup of tea.
I don’t want you to think our friendship is based solely on the fact of you hiring me someday. I love you as my friends whether you are my client or not. Because, the fact of the matter is, I don’t care if you book with me or not. What I do care about is that you take family pictures. Whether it is from me, a different photographer, or asking a stranger to take a quick family picture with your phone. Who takes the picture is irrelevant, so long as you’ve got the picture.
Pictures are important, so take them by whatever works best for your family.
It really is ok if you don’t use me for your family pictures. I still love you.
