Valentines Day Traditions | Whitney Beth Photography | Utah Family Photographer
Happy Love day! You know I love holidays and finding ways to celebrate with each other, and Valentines Day is no different! I have always used this day to show friends and family how much I love them. It’s hard to describe it, but the sense of camaraderie and joy is almost palpable. It feels like an opening number to a Disney movie!
Valentines for my family, has morphed into more of a family affair. It’s less of a hot date night with Danny (which we do, just not on the 14th) and more of a family date night. For the past couple of years the boys have requested a waffle bar. I pull out all the stops for our Valentines dinner and make waffles, and we have berries and whipped cream, chocolate sauce, nutella, cookie butter, syrup, etc. Think, “homemade waffle love.” So good. I also decorate the dining room with balloons, pin wheels, flowers and all things red and pink. We even use “fancy” glasses for our chocolate milk.
Danny and I usually get the boys a small little Valentine and have it at their place setting. This year we found some Spiderman figures. We also go around the table and say what we love about each other. It’s such a simple, sweet thing to do, but I love hearing my boy’s responses.
During the day the kids and I will take Danny a treat and a drink to him at work. Once our delivery has been made we break out the craft supplies and make Valentines for everyone! There’s nothing like a homemade heart out of construction paper to make you smile!
And of course I always take Valentines pictures of the boys. This year was a fun year since we have a chubby baby to kiss and love all over. I’ve taken chubby, kissy, baby pictures of each of my boys for their first Valentines. This year was Remmy’s year to shine! We took these while Jones was at school and I even managed to talk Foo into jumping in a few shots. What do you think?
What traditions do you do for Valentines day?
