Jordan Pines Extended Family | Hortin | Whitney Beth Photography
I absolutely love photographing extended families! I’m from a large family (oldest of 10 kids) and married into a large family (husband is the youngest of 8.) So getting together with my clients extended family just feels like Sunday dinner! I love seeing cousins play together and siblings hang out – it’s all so special! Plus, I’m 100% the instigator for a group picture when my whole family is together, since we never know when the next time that will be is. That’s why I love being able to be the photographer for my clients! The Hortin family are my kind of people! If anything, for the sole reason of them laughing at the action shot of one of the littles tipping over and giving his cousin a quick foot to the face. (You’ll see it below) *everyone was fine and no children were hurt. Being with them felt like hanging out with my fam.
In my line of work, and with how big my family is, I’m often met with, “do you know so and so?” That happened while walking to our spot to take pictures. Maggie, one of the daughters, asked what my last name is. When I said Robbins, she asked if I knew an Ed or Danny Robbins. Well, Danny is my husband and he was actually at Ed’s house that evening with our kids. Ha! Turns out that she was in Danny’s singles ward and then in my in laws family ward once she got married! Small world!
We photographed the Hortin’s family pictures up Big Cottonwood Canyon at Jordan Pines. (It’s near the trail for Donut Falls.) It was a beautiful fall evening and the first of my fall family sessions that actually looked like fall! We had a wonderful evening laughing together – and at my bunny! (one of the tricks I bring to get kids to smile.) I’m happy to report that it worked on both kids and adults alike!
I would love to photograph your family here! If you’re interested in booking a session, send me a message through my “book now” tab and we’ll get things moving!
