Super Mario Halloween | Whitney Beth Photography
It’sa me, Mario! Happy Halloween! I’m big into family costumes and will ride this wave as long as the boys will let me. My key to themed Halloween costumes is letting the boys have final say on what we dress up as. Earlier this year when the new Mario movie came out, Danny and I took all the boys to see it in theaters. I was still very pregnant and it was Rem’s first movie experience. (It was also Fields’ first time he really remembered what was going on since he was a covid baby and we haven’t taken the whole family to the movies in a long time. Shocking all of us was the fact that Danny and I got to sit and watch the whole thing! All three boys were mesmerized and didn’t need to get up once! Even the almost 2 year old! In fact, whenever Mario would come on screen he’d yell, “Mario!” Which was equally surprising since I didn’t know he was aware of who Mario even was! After that movie, the boys have held strong to their idea of being Mario for Halloween. I made/pieced together all of our costumes. (I’m especially proud of Toad’s mushroom hat!) We have Danny as Bowser, me as Motocross Princess Peach, Jones as Mario, Fields as Luigi, Remmy as Donkey Kong (very fitting) and Wells as Toad. Before our neighborhood Halloween party and trunk or treat I had the boys come with me to my favorite park down the street and take some quick photos of our costume in good light. (And lets be honest, before they get hammered in candy and frosting and all the festivities that come on Halloween.) I love how our costumes turned out and that they have a hint of that “homemade costume” charm. Happy Halloween!
