With me being fresh off maternity leave and a bunch of new faces around Instagram I thought it’d be nice to do a little “about me” so you can get to know who’s behind the camera. There are so many photographers in Utah and they are all SO talented. The one thing that sets me apart from them, is me! I like to think of these little segments as a way to “speed date” your photographer. I asked if anyone had any questions on Instagram so I’ve peppered them in throughout this post.
For starters, I’m the oldest of 10 kids which is where my love for family photography started. There are five boys and five girls and I like to think of myself as the ring leader (they might say otherwise. haha!) My favorite candy is Reeses Fastbreak or a Take Five (but the OG Take Five, not the new one with Reeses Peanut butter in it. RIP. I haven’t been able to find it for a long time!) I love flowers and my favorite way to “treat yo self” is with a fresh bouquet.
I’ve had long hair for most of my life. I usually do a big chop every so often and then regret it the next week. Not that I don’t love my hair short – because I do. But because my hair grows so fast its already longer than I want it for short hair. Basically I hate the middle grow out stage. I’m also lazy with my routine/don’t have a lot of time in the mornings with all the kids needing me or to get out the door. It’s way easier to be lazy with long hair than short! When I do chop it all off I usually take anywhere from 15-20 inches off. My last haircut was a year and a half ago (see, lazy) and I took nearly 20 inches off. Throw in a pregnancy to that and my hair is back to the length it was when I cut it.
When it comes to TV I’m either watching comedys like New Girl, Parks and Rec, Brooklyn 99 or I’m watching reality TV in the form of “Alone” or other survival-esque shows. I’ve tried watching dramas, and I just can’t do it. The only way I watch the Bachelor is at parties – where I go for the socializing and less of the show watching.
I am a big fan of DIY and the “how hard could it be” gene. I’ve taught myself to build built ins, fireplace mantels, custom shaped pergolas, wiring up a new light fixture, etc. I love a good project that leaves me feeling accomplished and helps me love our house that much more.
When people ask me if I like the mountains or the beach better, I’m never sure how to answer. My favorite place is the Oregon Coast and that is both! My drink of choice is Dr. Pepper. If I’m feelin’ fancy I love Dr. Pepper, coconut cream and either raspberry or blackberry. Given the choice between Coke or Pepsi I choose Pepsi every time.
And that’s me! Well, at least a little snippet of me. I hope that learning bits and pieces about me will strike something with you and make you want to work with me all the more!
