Wheeler Farm Family Pictures | Stanley | Whitney Beth Photography
We are taking it back to fall-ish. Kathy contacted me wanting fall pictures – the only thing was it was mid November when she did! Which wouldn’t have been a problem if we didn’t live in Utah with our first snow looming at any minute. I had found little pockets of fall here and there, but both of Kathy’s boys are autistic and we needed a space that was wide open where they could run and not get hurt. I had been scoping out my usual haunts and we settled on Wheeler Farm. The leaves had a little bit of leaves and color still left, but the real winner was the light. I know enough now to know how light is going to effect the images. And with the back half of Wheeler Farm full of yellow grass and a little creek – the golden sunlight would reflect off of the water and the yellow grass would reflect the tones. Helping us to fake a fall setting in 40 degree weather. It took a lot of games and playing and running around, following the boys’ lead but we got some great shots. The session only lasted about half an hour before 3 out of 4 kids were done and cold. (Stella could’ve stayed photographing all night! haha!) But we all had fun and it wasn’t as “painful” as anticipated, in fact they commented on how much easier it went than they were expecting. Kathy loved her gallery so much she ended up buying every single image and putting them into a massive album. It turned out fantastic! Here are my favorites from the shoot!
