I’m so glad I was able to squeeze in a sunflower festival photoshoot before the season was done. Getting these guys together was quite the line of orchestrated events. We had to wait for baby TW to be born, drive to Kansas to pickup Nigel from his moms, pick a date that was still open on my calendar, all before Wyatt deployed. Does that make your head hurt trying to plan family pictures in the midst of all that? Luckily the Kelson family are champs and we pulled it off! I love how their outfits pop against the sunflowers, and then once the sun goes down, blends in with the mountains. So cool! It was also pretty neat how the OG Kelson kids are the ones in pink and the grandsons/in-law/parents are in blue. I don’t know if it was a happy accident or what, but it looks good!
This was also my first time shooting at the Red Barn and I loved it! Sunflowers as far as you can see and each entry ticket came with your own sunflower you got to pick. Nigel immediately picked a big, fat one for his and then spent the rest of the night losing petals from either plucking them or running around being a little boy. I’m so happy I get to take these guys’ family pictures year after year and I love watching as their family grows.
