It’s the Remington show around here lately, but who can blame me when he’s this cute?! For Remmy’s 1st birthday he got two cake smashes – one at his party, and one to photograph! I’m a little extra, but I don’t care. haha! I’ve photographed all of my boys in this same spot in my house for their cake smashes and I love it. (When we were first looking at houses and I walked into this one, the front room and light it gave is what sold me on the house. I knew I was going to take lotssss of pictures in this space.)
I like to keep my cake smash sessions pretty low key – especially after what happened to my first one with Jones. (Indy jumped up on the counter and ate the cake in the literal 2 seconds I turned around to pick up Jones.) After the “incident” I just grab a small cake from the bakery at the grocery store and call it good. I also have a box of decorations that I reuse whenever I have a party, so I pulled out a strand of blue tissue tassels and called it good. My favorite accessory this year was the tiny gold birthday hat. By some miracle Rem let me put it on him and he kept it on the whole time! I was even able to have him wear it for the party.
The cake smash ended when home boy tried to crawl over onto my rug covered in frosting. lol I scooped him up and threw him in the tub to get him all cleaned up. When he was frosting free I went downstairs to go clean up… but a couple of big brothers had already started the clean up process with a fork in hand. haha! I got them cleaned up and went back to actually clean, only to discover that somehow the dogs had come upstairs and were helping themselves to the aftermath. Oh boy. Shoo’d them away and finally got everything cleaned up.
