Salt Lake City Family Photographer | Valdez | Whitney Beth Photography
This is probably one of the happiest photoshoots I’ve ever taken. It was such a special day for the Valdez family – they got to (finally) adopt their foster daughter!
I met Kenna back at the start of 2020 at a marketing workshop. We were in a small and intimate class, so we all got to know each other pretty well. That was when Kenna was starting to go full time with DIY and dropping her client-based work load. Now fast forward to today and she is a booming success on Instagram with thousands of followers who get to watch on as she tackles countless DIY projects. (You can follow her on Instagram @thefliphubb ) Kenna takes you along for the ride, from showing mood boards, how to’s, and a snippet into her personal life.
It’s from these snippets that her followers got to watch and follow along for the past couple of years and the journey it had been for their family and their foster daughter. Whom until very recently had been known on the internet as, “Rosie.”
Foster care is such a beautifully hard thing to go through, and after nearly two years, the Valdez family was able to adopt Kaia to have her officially be apart of their family. The day of the adoption Kenna posted to her instagram stories asking if there was anyone who could make it to the courthouse that day for a quick little mini session to document this special day. Lucky for me, I just happened to see it as I was getting kids ready and out the door. I met up with Kenna and their crew before their hearing and we shot for a quick 20-30 minutes. You could just feel the love and excitement radiate off of this sweet family. It was an honor to have been able to document it.
