30th Birthday Portraits | Traverse Mountain Photographer | Whitney Beth Photography
I’m 30!! If throwing myself a giant dance party for my 30th wasn’t extra enough, I also took some portraits of myself with a giant, pink, mylar “30!” And it was awesome!
With the help of my sister as my human tripod, we loaded up my van full of kids and balloons and headed to the color walls at the Traverse Mountain outlets. We stopped at Smith’s first to get my balloons inflated. (Did you know you can blow up any balloons you want there and you just pay for the helium?) After embracing the stares and questions of “who’s birthday is it?””You’re 30?” and plenty of “happy birthdays!” We were on the road.
Since this was a Saturday I wanted to do this in the morning before the shops opened up to avoid further embarrassment. Plus the wall is north facing, so I wanted some good, shaded light. We took pictures for maybe 15 minutes. Since we already had the shots I wanted, and I’m never one to shy away from a photo op, I had my boys get in a few with me. I somewhat coordinated our outfits – with the exception of Spider Man, since that’s all Fields will wear. ha! This is real life, and not something I was willing to fight over. Plus he was just so happy that he got to wear it!
They were so much fun! I just wish that I had someone else to photograph with some balloons there (hint hint) I totally recommend birthday shoots at any age. 10/10 would do it again. Would you ever take birthday pictures like this?
