Potato Hill Family Session | Robbins | Whitney Beth Photography
You guys should know by now that I have a huge family, and I love it! For my first family shoot of the year, I was able to photograph my brother and sister in law and their 5 kids at Potato Hill in Draper. Their session was split between family pictures and baptism pictures for my niece, so they needed a location close to the Draper LDS temple. Potato hill it is! I love this location, it gives you stunning views and scenery, is super close by and has a great parking lot with cell service. (You never know how much you appreciate being out in nature with cell service until you have to meet a client there!) But the one draw back it has, is the wind. It is allllways windy up there. No matter the season or temperature it will always be windy. Mix that wind in with freezing temperatures, and these guys were so happy it was a split location session! We were outside for around 20 minutes and my poor nieces and nephew were freezing! But all things considering, we got some great shots! Because we had to make it back to the temple before sunset we also started a little earlier and I felt like I was shooting blind! The sun was so bright I had to trust my settings and hope that everyone was looking. Thankfully these guys are pro now, even with the over average amount of blinking, and for the most part, every single pose I instructed had everyone looking at the camera! Just to be safe that we had one “grandma shot” (everyone looking and smiling to hang on Grandma’s wall) we had the kids get out of the car at the temple after warming up for 30 minutes or so and take a few quick family shots “just in case.” So despite the cold and wind, we were able to get some keepers! At the end of the shoot the kids all agreed that next year they wanted summer family pictures!
