Hey there, friends! Today, I’m excited to share with you a special session I recently had with my brother Austin and his amazing wife, Jenna. They’re expecting a baby boy, and I had the honor of capturing this exciting time in their lives.
We headed to Jordan Pines up Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah, for their maternity session. Even though it was chilly, the snow added a magical touch to the surroundings. My niece and nephew, who joined us for the shoot, were such troopers despite the freezing temperatures. My nephew, does not like smiling for the camera, but I it! It perfectly documents him right now. I was talking with one of my friends about it and how much we love it, she said it perfectly, “The thing is, one day he’ll start smiling for pictures and then for the rest of his life he smiles for pictures. Right now is one of the rare times you get his genuine feelings in photos. It’s beautiful. I’m obsessed. The real pout is way better than a fake smile.” (Thanks for wording it perfectly, Megan!)
As we explored the snowy pine trees, Jenna looked absolutely stunning in her green dress, which complemented the winter scenery beautifully. It reminded me of my own maternity shoot when I was pregnant with my son, Jones. Surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the snow-covered pines, it was pure magic.
My favorite moment was towards the end when we were done with the kids in the photos – I wrapped my niece up in her mom’s coat. Well, she decided she wasn’t done with photos yet and kept waddling up to be in the frame. She was giving major ET vibes haha! See how many photos she photobombed!
Photographing my family is always a joy, and this session was no exception. Austin and Jenna’s love for each other and their excitement for their baby boy were so evident in every photo. It was a privilege to document this special time in their lives and create memories that they will cherish forever.
As I write this, Jenna is due to give birth this week, so by the time you read this, their little bundle of joy may have already arrived. I can’t wait to meet him and watch as their family grows. (And the brain washing that I am the favorite aunt to commence.)
