Sandy Family Photographer | Katter | Whitney Beth Photography
Every family has their, “thing.” Something that the do together, or experience or watch. For the Katter family, it’s Subarus. When I first met up with Debbie and we started planning their photoshoot, she mentioned that everyone in their family drives Subarus and that she would love to incorporate them somehow. Debbie also wanted some photos taken in her backyard that she’s worked so hard on. Not only does Debbie live super close to me, but she is also close to Dimple Dell park (aka the “Gully” to the locals.) I knew that this would be the perfect location for displaying their cars.
With the crazy spring we’ve had, we ended up rescheduling their session. The new day came and brought pockets of rain throughout the day, but by some miracle the rain stopped every time it was time to start photographing. (I’m talking like windshield wipers on, raining on the drive to the park!) We shot the first half of the photos in Debbie’s backyard and then everyone went inside to change into a shirt that matched their Subaru. This was the coolest detail that worked out so well for their photos! I had them follow me in their cars to the park. It felt like the longest game of real life “Snake” ever! We got there and I had them back into the lot. The rain stopped as everyone was parking and we were blessed with a perfect, stormy sky. We finished off the shoot with Debbie holding a “Subaru Only” parking sign. This creative shoot was so much fun and I loved getting to know and document the Katter family!
