Batman + Robin Family Costume | Whitney Beth Photography
Happy Halloween! One of my favorite holidays is here! I love all the fun that goes into getting a costume and going to parties and trick or treating. It gets even better with kids. I’m real big on family costumes. Last year my then 2 year old was obsessed with Spiderman, so we went as Spiderman into the spider-verse. We had Peter Parker, Peter Porker, Miles Morales, Spider Gwen and Peter B. Parker. It was a blast.
Since I love family costumes so much, I try and figure out a theme that all the boys will be happy with. This year we went as DC’s Batman, Robin, baby Joker, The Riddler and Poison Ivy. Poison Ivy, along with Cat Woman, have always been some of my favorite villains. But after last year’s skin tight morph suit at 3 months postpartum, I opted for a glam Poison Ivy in a ball gown to go with the Ridder’s green suit.
Before our neighborhood party on Saturday we stopped at our little wetlands park just down the street from the church building – where the party was being held, to take pictures. This year I just brought my tripod and remote control. It didn’t go as smoothly as I had hoped, since baby joker was still feeling crummy from getting shots, but we were able to get a handful of shots at least.
Speaking of baby joker, is he not the cutest thing ever? I made the yarn wig myself (which took SO LONG btw) and sewed tufts of “hair” onto a beanie. Surprisingly enough, he keeps it on! I also pieced together his outfit from a purple suit I found on Amazon and a thrifted green shirt. I bought Batman and Robin’s costumes online/Walmart. I lucked out like crazy with the Riddler’s hat and found it already made with the question mark at the thrift store for $2. It’s a little small, but for $2 it’s perfect! I bought myself a green body suit and I already had the dress from when I shot a princess series in college. For my ivy, I just borrowed a garland from my mom and wrapped it around myself. I think we all look pretty good! What do you think?
My boys have already started brainstorming for next year’s costume. (oh boy.) What do you think we should be? We are running low on family costumes that have 4 boys and a girl!
