Little Cottonwood Canyon | Jones | Whitney Beth Photography
I’m holding on to the last bit of summer and chasing all the green I can find. And this session with the Joneses is fulfilling that love of lush, green and golden light. I love this shoot so much and it was exactly the kind of mental joy I needed after taking my own extended family pictures that weekend (iykyk.)
What makes these photos even more special, is it’s my family! My cousin Nick and I are only 5 months apart (nearly to the day.) We’ve always been close and then he went and married the cutest person who has become like a sister to me. Our kids are also super close in age and love playing together. The only hang up is, they moved to Texas for work! So instead of seeing them all the time, we are lucky when we get to be together in person. (I say “in-person” because Heidi and I Marco Polo all the time!)
So when Heidi told me they would be in town for a short visit I knew we had to make the most of it! We took the kids on a hike and got ice cream, and lucky me, we managed to squeeze in a photoshoot! I took Nick and Heidi’s engagements back in the day and I even photographed their wedding!
Not that I was worried for their family shoot, but the pressure was on. I mentioned before how Heidi and I Marco Polo all the time, well one of our conversations was about how awful their last family picture session went in Texas. Largely due to their youngest having a rough day and being inconsolable. I pulled out all the stops and made a complete fool of myself up on the mountain, but it worked beautifully! After the session Nick even said it “wasn’t that bad!” I’ll take it! haha!
I had so many good photos to choose from, but here are my favorites from the shoot. If you want photos here, the leaves should be turning golden soon. Send me a message through my “book now” tab and we’ll get you scheduled!
